SALISBURY - Bruce D. Bateman of Salisbury, MA passed away at home, 74 Forest Road, on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He formally resided at 108 Water Street, Danvers, MA for 72 years. He was born in Lynn, MA on July 15, 1934, the son of William J. Bateman and Frances Lougee Bateman. Bruce graduated from Danvers High School, class of 1953.

He was employed with the GTE Sylvania Electric, Danvers, MA for 34 years, retiring a Supervisor. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Strategic Air Command based at Plattsburg, NY as Crew Chief for B-47 bombers. He was a commercial pilot, banner- tow pilot, glider-tow pilot, ultralight aircraft examiner and test pilot for experimental aircraft. Also, an avid professional diver, a member of the U.S. Air Force Olympic four man bobsled team and a well known guest speaker of the North Shore. He was a Master Mason of the Amity-Mosaic Lodge, A.F. & A.M., Danvers, MA for 60 years.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy Catalini Bateman, son Stephen W. Bateman and wife Susan Jodoin Bateman of Salisbury, MA, their son Brett and daughter Olivia, another son Eric D. Bateman and wife Tracey Boudrot Bateman of Exeter, NH and their sons Spencer and Shane, his sister Thorne Bateman Lee of Boxford, MA and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held in Bruce's memory.
