HAVERHILL: Blanche A. (Riley) Hammer, 94, wife of Norman L. Hammer, passed away at her home on January 1, 2017 surrounded by those she loved.

Born in Haverhill on July 14, 1922, Mrs. Hammer was the daughter of the late Almon and Grace (Leighton) Riley.

Mrs. Hammer was educated in Haverhill. After having raised her family she was employed as a laundress at Baker Katz Nursing Home for many years. She attended the former Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hammer was very creative and enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and painting.

Besides her devoted husband of seventy-three years, Mrs. Hammer is survived by her daughters, Sandra Moreau and her husband Kenneth, Nancy Noel and her husband Roland, both of Haverhill, and grandson, Michael Noel of Haverhill. She was predeceased by her nine siblings. Mrs. Hammer was a loving wife and mother who will be sadly missed by those she knew.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, January 6th, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel at Linwood Cemetery, 41 John Ward, Ave., Haverhill.
