MERRIMAC - Beverly J. Allen, 80, of Merrimac, passed away peacefully at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill on Friday, February 1, 2013.

Beverly was born in Waterville, ME on April 10, 1932, daughter of the late Alfred and Hester (Brown) Jones. She was predeceased by her husband Donald E. Allen, Sr. of Merrimac.

Beverly chose a life-long career in healthcare, having worked in both Maine and Massachusetts. She was a registered nurse for over 25 years, working with the VNA, hospice care and as a camp nurse for the YWCA and the Girls Scouts. More recently, she worked as a volunteer at the Merrimac Senior Center.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving family members, including her son, Donald E., Jr. and his wife Marybeth (Annis) Allen of Epping, NH; daughters, Belinda S. Allen of Merrimac and Lisa L. Matte of Salem, NH; grandchildren, Laura, Bethany and Amanda Allen of Epping, NH and Margaret and Tucker Matte of Salem, NH; brother, Richard A. Jones of Sacramento, CA.

Funeral services at the request of the family will be privately held. Contributions in Beverly's memory may be made to the Merrimac Senior Center's Food Pantry, 100 East Main Street, Merrimac, MA 01860.
