HAVERHILL, MA: Bernice R. "Bunny" Leavitt, 83, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Forrest E. Leavitt.
Born in Haverhill on August 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Claude A. and Florence L. (Stuart) Wheeler.
Bunny was educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1957. Bunny's career of many years was dedicated to serving health care needs of area resident as a Certified Nurse Aid at Lakeview House Nursing Home, Hannah Duston Healthcare Center and Whttier Rehabilitation Hospital. Baking was Bunny's passion, and she enjoyed preparing "sweets" for the family to enjoy. Christmas was her favorite holiday when she went all out baking her special desserts.
Bunny is survived by her children, Donald Leavitt of Methuen, Cindy Burke of Salem, NH, Brian Leavitt of Methuen, Pamela Webster and her husband Nathan of Haverhill, David Leavitt and his wife Pisey of Methuen, Debra Dow of Derry, NH; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; siblings, Gerald Wheeler and his wife Elaine of Sandy, UT and sister-in-law, Diane Wheeler of ME. Bunny was the mother of the late Robert "Bobby" Leavitt, and sister to the late Claude "Sonny" Wheeler, Laura Travers and Wayne Wheeler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, February 27 th from 4:00 – 7:00pm at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Inurnment in the spring at Hillside Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.dcsfuneralhome.com
