SALISBURY, MA: Barbara H. (Ordway) Brewster, 80, died February 14th at the Maplewood Care & Rehabilitation Center in Amesbury. Mrs. Brewster was the wife of the late Dana A. Brewster, Jr.

Born in Haverhill on May 27, 1929, Mrs. Brewster was the daughter of the late Richard S. and Phyllis E. (Scarbro) Ordway.

Mrs. Brewster worked in Haverhill's shoe industry as a stitched for firms such as Allen Shoe. Her many interest included cooking, sewing, and traveling to Florida and Ohio. Sailing played an important part in her life, and she, and her family, sailed the Great Lakes and the Mississippi on board the boat made by her father. As a youth she attended First Baptist Church where many enjoyed her playing the violin.

She is survived by her sons, David C. Ordway of Haverhill, James P. Brewster and his wife Teresa of Big Pine Key, FL, Paul R. Brewster and his wife Lisa of Salisbury, Philip S. Brewster of Haverhill, Mark F. Brewster and his wife Pauline of So. Wells, ME, John A. Brewster of Salisbury; daughters, Carol Brewster of Haverhill, Sally Roy and her husband Richard of Haverhill; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Nancy Brewster, and sister of the late Richard Ordway and Margaret Nida. Friends are invited to attend the memorial service Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Interment at Riverview Cemetery. At the families request there will be no calling hours.
