PLAISTOW, NH: Barbara M. (Riedle) McGinley, 95, passed away October 13, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Bedford, MA. Barbara was the wife of the late William J. McGinley and Donald L. Uerkwitz.
Born in Haverhill on July 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Clayton E. and Thelma E. (Marston) Riedle.
Barbara was educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1942. She served in the U.S. Marine Corp Woman's Reserve in 1944, stationed in Norfolk, VA, and was honorably discharged in 1945 with the rank of private. Barbara was employed as a sales clerk for AMES in Plaistow for eight years until its closing in 1991. Barbara was Past Chief of Pythian Sisters of Plaistow, President of Women's Republican Club, and Town Chairman of Multiple Sclerosis & Red Cross Drivers.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Deborah Pettengill and her husband Barry Condon and Patricia Kennedy, both of Plaistow; grandson, Jason Kervin; great granddaughter, Pearl McNally. Barbara was the mother of the late Donald D. Uerkwitz, and grandmother of the late Tammy McNally.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral on Saturday, October 19th, at 4:00 pm at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill.
