Obituary

HAVERHILL- Barbara I. Noury, 89, longtime resident of Bradford, passed away peacefully on January 14 after a short period of declining health.

Barbara was born on the first day of spring in Haverhill on March 20, 1931. She was the beloved daughter of Hilary and Philomena (Pascucci) Campana, the loving sister of Domenic Campana, and the cherished wife of Roland "Duff' Noury - all of whom she lost many years ago. Barbara was the sole caregiver to her mother when she was diagnosed with cancer and to her father into his old age, and she was very proud to be, for family was everything to her. She lost her brother tragically during Hurricane Donna in 1960 and her husband suddenly after only a few years of marriage. Barbara's faith that she would be reunited with her family some day is what gave her strength.

After graduating from Haverhill High School, Barbara worked at Western Electric in North Andover for many years. She worked beside many friends and relatives there until her retirement. She also enjoyed her per diem work at Filenes after retirement. Barbara loved a good book and movie, watching the Boston Red Sox, dining out with friends, trips to Foxwoods, and going dancing. Dancing is where she met Hank Galante, her true companion in her later years. She was his "sunshine," and they shared their Catholic faith and Italian heritage until his passing in 2017. She loved days at Jenness Beach soaking up the sun, watching the birds at her bird feeders, and sitting with her cherished kitties who were her constant companions in the family home her father built.

Barbara had wonderful lifelong friends that meant the world to her, amazing neighbors who lovingly looked out for her, and many close relatives in her large, extended Italian family. Although she never had children or grandchildren, there are those she loved as if they were her own. Barbara was a devout Catholic and member of Sacred Hearts Parish, and her faith was paramount in her life. She was kind and compassionate to all. We trust that God has called home His good and faithful servant.
