NEWBURYPORT: Audrey B. (Wilmont) Davis, 89, formerly of Haverhill, passed away on February 11, 2011 at Brigham Manor. She was the wife of Albert C. Davis who passed January 4, 2004.

Born in Haverhill on August 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Alice (Congdon) Davis.

Following her graduation from Haverhill High School, Class of 1940 Audrey moved to Newburyport where she worked at the Newburyport Assessor's Office and the M.W. Pray Company.

During the war Audrey worked as a telephone operator at the Harbor Defense of Portsmouth, NH. Following the war she worked in Newburyport as a bookkeeper for Badger Farms Creameries for twenty-three years, and thirteen years at Checkoway VW.

Audrey is survived by her daughter, Melinda Armistead of Gloucester; grandchildren, Nathanial and Elizabeth Armistead; nephew, Edward Davis of Merrimac and niece, Cheryl Silver of Dunedin, FL. She was the mother of the late Carl W. Davis, and sister of the late Beryl A. Davis, Charlotte W. Noyes and Cortland A. Wilmont.

Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill will be private. Interment, in the spring, will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to M.S.P.C.A., Rt. #28, Methuen, MA 01844.
