Obituary

SANDOWN, NH: Arthur "Archie" F. MacLeod, 89 of Sandown, NH, passed away after a period of declining health at Penacook Place in Haverhill on February 18th with family and friends with him.
Archie was born on September 5, 1930, in Haverhill to John and Florence (Kirpish). He was a Korean War veteran, and worked in the construction industry until the day he turned 80. During the 70's, he raced Standardbred horses at area tracks.
Archie had countless friends, most for whom he had nicknames, often ironic ones, for example: Lightning, Fearless, Purple Man and Banjo Man were just a few. As a longtime resident of Hampstead, NH, he was widely known around town, especially for his love of scratch tickets.
Archie was predeceased by sons, Kevin MacLeod and Darryl MacLeod, and his brother John. He leaves daughters Kim Cordeiro of Boxford and Bonnie Smith of Haverhill. He also leaves grandchildren Ashley, Jason, Eddie, Jr., Eric, Jami, Tonisia, and several great grandchildren.
Archie will be remembered fondly by the Morissette family, formerly of Hampstead, with whom he lived for decades, especially Robin Morissette and Angus MacKay, who lovingly cared for him in his final years.
Per his request, there will be no services, but if you would like to buy a scratch ticket in his memory, he'd be happy if you won.
Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill.
