HAVERHILL: Antoinette M. "Ann" Paolino, 102, the last of sixteen children, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2021 at Penacook Place. She was the wife of the late Vincent H. Paolino to whom she was married for forty-two years.
Born in Haverhill on August 19, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Conzolata (Fabiano) Schiavoni.
Ann attended St. James elementary school then worked as a young woman in Haverhill for various retail stores to include Gammon's Market, Mitchells Department Store, and Enterprise Store. She then worked at the former Western Electric where she was to meet her future husband, and following their marriage she remained home to raise her family. After her son entered college, Ann worked at Vallings Beauty Supply, and for twelve years as a sales clerk at the former Karelis Jewelers before her retirement in 1995.
Ann was a member of St. Monica's Church in Methuen, a Eucharistic Minister, and member of the former St. Rita's Church in Haverhill, and, early in her life, a member of St. James Church.
Ann was generous with her time and very active in civic activities in Haverhill. She was a member of Women's City Club of Haverhill, as well as, a member of the Garden and Arts and Crafts Club. Ann volunteered at the St. Clare League of Lawrence, several nursing homes, and for sixteen years served as a volunteer at the former Merrimack Valley Hospital.
Ann is survived by her son Vincent J. Paolino, DMD and his wife Paula of Haverhill; grandsons, Dr. David Paolino and his wife Dr. Celest Austin of Austin, TX, James Paolino and his wife Dr. Jackie Paolino of Reading, MA; two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Emily, and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill will be private with interment at St. James Cemetery. On-line condolence may be sent to www.dcsfuneralhome.com
