NEWBURYPORT - Anne R. Sayers, 59, of Newburyport, MA, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.

Born in Lowell, MA, on June 13, 1956, she was the beloved daughter of the late John T. "Jack" Sayers, Jr. and the late Dorothy (Smith) Sayers. After graduating from Lowell High School in the class of 1974, she worked for many years at Wang Laboratories and as a CNA. Annie resided on Cape Cod before moving to Newburyport 15 years ago.

Annie was passionate about animals, especially dogs. She was an enthusiastic volunteer who actively supported local animal shelters and organizations on the North Shore.

Annie is survived by her loving partner, Jeff Sevigny of Newburyport; two sisters, Maribeth Sayers and her husband Frank Sullivan of Quincy, MA; and Ellen Shugrue and her fiancé Paul Koza of Lowell and Laconia, NH; two brothers, John "Jake" Sayers of Attleboro, MA; and Matthew Sayers of Lowell; a niece and a nephew, Kelsea Shugrue and Timothy Shugrue of Lowell.

Committal services will be held privately at Annie's request.
