HAVERHILL - Alvin Taylor, Sr., 56, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 14, 2016.

Alvin was born a Redskins fan on September 26, 1960 in Washington DC. He is predeceased by his parents Howard Taylor and Julia Jackson-Kennedy. As a small child, Alvin moved to Haverhill.

Alvin excelled in football and basketball at Haverhill High School. His passion for sports stayed with him long after graduation. Simply known as "Coach Al" throughout the community, he began his 30 year commitment to Pop Warner Football. Alvin was a mentor to thousands of kids both on and off the field. His coaching did not go unnoticed, the league now awards "The Alvin Taylor Award" for Most Improved Player. When Alvin was not coaching on the field, he did so on the basketball courts at the Haverhill Boys Club. Alvin also enjoyed music, either as a DJ or karaoke enthusiast.
