HAVERHILL: Allen P. Adams, 95, died June 26, 2010 at Penacook Place. Mr. Adams was the husband of Eileen (Herrick) (Ethier) Adams and the late Ina O. (Bergeron) Adams.

Born in Haverhill on March 29, 1915, Mr. Adams was the son of the late John G. and Marie Louise (Miron) Adams.

Mr. Adams served during peacetime with the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1937. He worked in the used car business in Texas with his father. During the war he again served in the U.S. Army, and participated in the invasion of North Africa, and Italy. He then moved to Philadelphia where he was employed in the construction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Returning to Haverhill Mr. Adams was employed as a foreman for Herley Shoe Co until his retirement in 1967. Mr. Adams was a member of VFW Post #29, and always enjoyed BINGO.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son, John G. Adams and his wife Gail of Derry, NH; three grandchildren, Tracy Ann Damico, of Whispering Pines, NH, Deana and Jason Adams of Derry, NH. He is also survived by several stepchildren and several step grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend the service Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill to be followed at 10:00 a.m. by a Memorial Mass at St. James Church. At the family's request there will be no calling hours. Interment at Linwood Cemetery.
