TEWKSBURY - Alfred "Al" S. Devine, 89 of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, surrounded by his loved ones at the High Pointe House in Haverhill.
Alfred was born in Everett on August 13, 1928, son of the late Margaret Ann Devine and her husband who were both born in Ireland. He attended Malden Tech and is a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, Division 6, Red Star. He was a Chef at The Oaks Restaurant in Tewksbury and also worked for Caradco Windows and Boston Glass for many years. He loved working with wood even in his spare time he spent making things out of wood for the house and for gifts. Al also loved to cook, and he made the best lasagna and chili which his family looked forward to every holiday. He loved the White Mountains and is a diehard New England Patriot and Boston Red Sox fan. Al loved his entire family very much and will be deeply missed.
His surviving family members include his loving wife Beverly Devine; children Albert, Donna, Danny, and William of OR; step-children David and Jeffrey (Snelling) Perry, Stephen Perry, Allan Scott Perry, Dawn Wolejko and husband Paul, and Brian Perry; grandchildren Kian, Aislyn and Zak of OR; step-grandchildren Brooke Sheehan, Michael Perry, Mark Perry, Stephen, Jennifer, Danny and Ronan; Dawn and Paul of OR; and several nieces and nephews; deceased family members include his parents; siblings Bernard, Francis, Josephine Connelly and Sally Ferrin; and step-grandson Jeff.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Service with U.S. Army Honors will begin at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Al's memory may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140 or online at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
