HAVERHILL: Albert J. "Jack" Porst, Jr., 71, passed away suddenly on March 12, 2019.
Born in Haverhill on December 22, 1947, he was the son of the late Albert J. Jr. and Frances E. (Peterkin) Porst.
Jack was educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1967. He furthered his education at Northern Essex Community College where his received his Associate Degree in 1967, and his BA in Psychology from University if Mass at Boston in 1969.
Jack's career as a Probation Councilor and Adolescent Councilor in private group homes spanned many years. He worked at the Central District Court of Northern Essex in Haverhill, Harbor School and Family Service in Newbury, the Plummer Home for Boys on Winter Island in Salem, MA, and Team Coordinating Agency at Milestone Program in Wilmington, MA. Jack was an avid sports fan and considered it a privilege to live near Boston to follow professional sports.
Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill will be private. Interment at Maplewood North Parish Cemetery.
