Dearest grandpa of Emma, Jackson, Mitchell and Tenley. Cherished brother of John W. Downing, Jr. of Cambridge, MA, Peter W. Downing of Natick, MA, Carol D. Tchernev of Plymouth, MA, and Kenneth F. Downing of Cohasset, MA.

Alan's kindness, generosity and humor will be treasured by all who knew him. The family will hold a private service.
